Oil changes are needed more often if you frequently drive in stop-and-go traffic or extreme temperatures, if you tow trailers, or if you drive many short distances where the engine doesn’t reach full operating temperature. 2. Listen for engine noises.
Are you noticing more engine noises than usual? Does the engine shake when you’re idling? These can be signs you need an oil change. Some other indications are excess exhaust, ticking signs when you first turn on the car, and of course, the “check engine” dashboard light. If your engine is showing any of these signs, you’re definitely due for a check-up.
